Textile Design and Production:
Textile design is a process of design creation for woven, knitted, printed, or surface ornamented fabrics. The textile designers are involved in various aspects of the designs that are used in interior decors or clothing. In simple words, the textile design process converts the raw material into a designed product.
If you look back into the history, we will witness that industrial revolution in the 18th century created a partial automation in the textile industry. The hand weaving of cotton, wool and other natural fibres shifted to partial automation during the period of revolution. Now, in the 21st century, the technological advancements and high-speed machinery with computer controls prompted high-level automation. This showed a drastic effect on the manual labour but there is a huge improvement in the efficiency of the industry.
Majority of the textile manufacturers produce fabrics for its use in the apparels. Two types of fibres are available in the industry:
- Natural fibres ( Cotton, silk, linen & wool)
- Artificial or Synthetic fibres ( Polyester, Nylon & acrylic)
Eco fashion is gaining importance with the ever-growing interest in the sustainable fashion. This led to the higher usage of eco friendly fibres such as hemp. The modern synthetic fibres are coming out with sophisticated properties that are stain resistant, protective against fire and weapons, protects from UV radiation, and many more.
The fabrics go through dyeing, weaving and painting to transform into beautiful products. To meet the consumer demand and the latest fashion needs in the market, the textile manufacturers work in tandem with the apparel production cycle to produce enough fabrics in a range of color, texture and varied quality.
